Warren Scott out of remainder of Silverstone weekend

Warren Scott will be taken to hospital for X-Rays and a further assessment of his back following a crash in the opening British Touring Car Championship practice session at Silverstone.

Scott, who set a time good enough for third in the 40-minute session, lost the rear of his Volkswagen CC on the exit of Copse corner before hitting the wall on the outside of the corner.

The Team BMR owner was in pain as he was extricated from his car, and following an assessment at the circuit medical centre will be transferred to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for further examination of lower back pain.

The front end of Scott’s CC was crumpled as a result of the crash, and TouringCars.Net understands that while no substantial damage was done to the engine, the car’s gearbox was cracked.

Update (15:30 BST): Scott has suffered two fractured vertebrae as a result of the shunt and will not take any further part in the Silverstone weekend. The BMR boss has been treated at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and may return to the circuit later.
