Mike Bushell thrilled with top ten finish

Mike Bushell was delighted after he secured a first top-ten finish in the British Touring Car Championship in race two at Snetterton.

The AmD Tuning driver had narrowly missed out on a points finish in race one as he finished 16th, but stayed out of trouble in a hectic second race to claim tenth – bettering his previous best finish of 11th at Brands Hatch earlier this year.

Clearly buoyed by his showing, Bushell told TouringCars.Net that biding his time had played a key part in securing the result.

“I’m kinda glad that I had a bad first corner,” he joked. “I got a good start and was ahead of [Mat] Jackson, Jeff Smith and I think I was alongside Depper.

“But I got tapped out wide and dropped back again – but then that pack were just all over each other, falling off left, right and centre.

“I was really gutted about qualifying as we had high expectations but this is definitely great to get back on the right foot, [and] to get my best result of the year is pretty nice.”

Although Bushell’s name wasn’t drawn for the reverse-grid pole, the 26 year-old was still eager to see what he could achieve in the final race.

“I’d like to think some of those I’d usually be racing with are elsewhere now,” he said. “I’ve not started this high up before so let’s just see what happens.”
