Yvan Muller headed a Citroën 1-2-3 in the second World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) practice session at the Slovakiaring, with José María López just 0.111 seconds adrift.
As in first practice the fastest lap came within the first few minutes, with Muller setting the pace on only his second lap. Muller was originally ahead of Honda’s Gabriele Tarquini, before Sébastien Loeb improved to second after around 15 minutes.
Points leader López then went second fastest with around ten minutes to go, ahead of 2014 race winner Loeb.
Fourth fastest was Campos Racing’s Hugo Valente, who improved his time inside the final ten minutes to mix it at the sharp end of the grid as he had already done in Friday testing.
LADA pair Rob Huff and Nicky Catsburg were fifth and sixth fastest, improving late on to demote Sébastien Loeb Racing’s Mehdi Bennani to seventh, with the Moroccan being the last driver within a second of the quickest lap.
ROAL Motorsport’s Tom Chilton was eighth, despite missing the majority of the session whilst his mechanics repaired the floor of his car following his off in first practice. Tom Coronel was ninth, with Tarquini completing the top ten as the top Honda driver.
Münnich Motorsport’s Stefano D’Aste was 11th, although the Italian damaged the front splitter on his car early on in the session.
Citroën’s fourth driver Ma Qing Hua could only manage 14th fastest, with the Chinese driver losing his best time due to exceeding the track limits.
Norbert Michelisz could only manage 15th fastest after losing time in the session when he went off into the gravel at turn 13 whilst providing a live intercom to the Eurosport feed.
Qualifying takes place at 15:00 CEST (14:00 BST).
