Team BMR’s Jason Plato once again topped the times in second practice for the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at Oulton Park, ahead of MG’s Andrew Jordan and WSR’s Andy Priaulx.
Plato’s best lap of 1:25.968 was three tenths slower than he had gone earlier in first practice, but was still good enough to see the Volkswagen CC driver end the session 0.344 seconds ahead of Jordan, who himself had briefly been fastest just before the half-way stage in the 40-minute session.
Priaulx was third in his IHG Racing BMW, having gone third quickest around half-way through, before improving slightly in the closing minutes.
Speedworks Motorsport’s Tom Ingram again impressed, posting the fourth fastest time to be within half a second of the pace.
MG’s Jack Goff was fifth fastest, ahead of Team BMR’s Colin Turkington in sixth and his team-mate Árón Smith in seventh. All of the drivers who featured in the top seven in first practice also featured in the top seven in second practice, albeit in a slightly different order.
Honda’s Matt Neal was eighth fastest, with WIX Racing’s Adam Morgan in ninth splitting the two Civics as Gordon Shedden completed the top ten.
The session was briefly red-flagged around half-way through when Dextra Racing’s Alex Martin stopped his car in the pitlane, blocking the exit.
Qualifying takes place at 15:20 BST.
