Jamie Green: “One thing leads to another”

At the Eurospeedway Lausitz Team Rosberg’s Jamie Green took a commanding lead in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) to lead both Team Abt’s Edoardo Mortara and Team Abt Sportsline’s Mattias Ekström by 17 points after four races.

The Brit admitted that he had been “feeling comfortable” with his surroundings in the Audi line-up, having joined the manufacturer at the beginning of 2013.

“Now I’’m in my second year of driving for Team Rosberg and by now I perfectly know the way it works, as well as my mechanics and engineers,” explained the Monaco-based driver, who was leading the historic success for Ingolstadt in both races. “In our interaction with Audi Sport, this helps to extract the optimum from the Audi RS 5 DTM and to perfectly set it up for my needs. All these are important elements of our current success.”

Not only has the development of the RS5 DTM shown Audi’s continuing strength in an ultra-competitive series, but Green’s own personal focus and preparation has been another key aspect in assistance his new found success.

“I became not only physically fitter, but also mentally stronger last winter. In addition, we spent a lot of time with the car in order to better understand it. So, one thing leads to another and suddenly you’re surfing the wave of success,” he stated, as well as saying that the championship is still very open, even though he’s now taken a hat-trick of wins in the first two weekends.

Even with the Norisring looming in the next four weeks, he remains optimistic of his chances to add to his tally of eight wins that he secured with Mercedes-Benz.

“Like practically anyone in the DTM, I’’m looking forward to the season’’s pinnacle event which is Aud’i’s home round as well.

“However, following the triumphs in recent weeks, we’’re traveling there with a lot of success weight on board of our Audi cars. But that won’t keep us from giving everything to clinch another success.”
