Jack Goff hoping to master qualifying efforts

Triple Eight Racing’s Jack Goff believes that unlocking more pace in qualifying will play an important part in continuing his consistent run in the British Touring Car Championship this season.

Goff shared the lead of the championship after the opening round of the season following a second-place finish in race three at Brands Hatch, but has since failed to return to the rostrum and now lies eighth in the standings.

And the MG driver, 24, is aiming to improve on his previous best of sixth in qualifying this year during this weekend’s visit to Croft as he looks to add more podium finishes to his name.

“This season has been a consistent one so far and since scoring a podium at Brands Hatch, I have been constantly fighting in the top eight,” said Goff.

“I feel that I haven’t got the best out of qualifying this season and as we know it is vital in the BTCC these days. There are so many quick drivers and teams that anyone in the top 15 can win a race this year so if you qualify 15th you know it’s going to be a hard fought day.

“I need to make sure I can maximise qualifying and make sure I’m in the top five ideally for a podium at Croft. We are improving the car in every race and the MG is kinder on its tyres than last year so we stand a good chance.”
