Nick Foster confirms BTCC exit after four years

Nick Foster has confirmed that he will not race in the 2015 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), having raced for the past four seasons at the wheel of West Surrey Racing BMW machinery.

Foster, who made his BTCC début in 2011 at the wheel of an S2000-spec BMW 320si, confirmed on his Facebook page today that he will not race in the series this year.

“After four great years of racing in the BTCC series I would like to confirm my retirement,” said Foster. “It has been great to be involved in what is the UK’s premier racing series, especially with Dick Bennetts WSR squad, who are without doubt one of the most professional and dedicated teams on the grid.

“It has been great to drive alongside some of the best talents on the grid including the 2014 champion Colin Turkington.”

During his tenure in the BTCC Foster scored just one podium, which came at Croft in his first season in the series. However since then the 49-year-old has proven himself to be a consistent scorer, supporting eBay Motors to win the teams’ title in 2014.

Foster also paid tribute to Rob Collard, who he has partnered since joining the BTCC.

“A special thanks to Rob Collard who has been my team mate since entering the series with whom I have enjoyed some great racing and fun times,” added Foster. “Finally, after four years going round in circles I appear to have found the exit!”

WSR will confirm their second driver alongside Sam Tordoff at the Autosport International show tomorrow (Thursday 8th January).
