Hong Kong racer Michael John Soong will return to the World Touring Car Championship for this weekend’s event in Beijing, racing a TC2T SEAT León for Campos Racing, just as he did for the 2013 finale.
Soong, whose Chinese name is Jancheng Song, made his WTCC début at the Macau Guia circuit in 2013, finishing the first race in 18th position before retiring from race two when he crashed out.
The 34-year-old was the Hong Kong Touring Car champion in 2009 and has since competed in the China Touring Car Championship, where he has won on two occasions.
Soong has raced for the Dongfeng Yueda KIA factory team in the CTCC since 2012.
Soong and Campos Racing are continuing to negotiate whether he will also compete at the season finale in Macau this season.
