Team Dynamics hit with fine and suspended ban

The Team Dynamics British Touring Car Championship outfit have been handed a fine of £25,000 and have had both of their TOCA licences (TBLs) revoked, with both penalties suspended.

The penalties were awarded after a meeting of the Championship Stewards on Tuesday September 23, and related to comments made by three-time champion Matt Neal after the previous race weekend at Rockingham, where it was found that ‘such remarks are prejudicial and have brought the Championship into disrepute.’

The decision was then made by the Championship Administrator to impose the £25,000 fine and, with Team Dynamics in breach of clause 7 of the TOCA BTCC Licence agreement, to revoke both of the licences held by the team. The penalties have been suspended until December 31 2015, given Dynamics’ commitment to the series, and should no further infractions arise then the penalties will be discharged on that date.

“I regret the comments made to a member of the press in the immediate aftermath of the recent BTCC event at Rockingham and sincerely apologise for any offence they may have caused,” said Neal. “It was never my intention to bring the series into disrepute and therefore I understand that my comments were unacceptable and completely accept the sanctions imposed.

“I am fully committed to Honda, Team Dynamics and the BTCC – a series I have loved and raced in for many many years – and look forward to moving on from this incident with immediate effect.”
