Warren Scott satisfied with Volkswagen progress

Warren Scott was pleased with the introduction of his team’s new Volkswagen CCs to the British Touring Car Championship rounds at Snetterton, which has seen his BMR team now field four of the same car.

The BMR Restart team had split its four entries earlier in the season between two Volkswagens for Alain Menu and Árón Smith, and two Vauxhall Insignias for himself and Jack Goff.

The team owner and driver finished ninth in his maiden practice session with the car, but languished in 25th at the end of practice two.

Speaking about the decision to make all four drivers run the same car, Scott explained that the idea had been in the pipeline for some time.

“We always wanted to run four of the same car, it was just when we were going to do it,” said Scott to TouringCars.Net. “We decided now was as good a time as any, we all wanted to be driving the same sort of cars and we had time over the summer break.”

As for the introduction of the machines, Scott was satisfied with his running but admitted he had made a mistake in second practice.

“In the first session, it didn’t actually feel a lot different to the Insignia,” said the 42-year-old. “I was quite happy, I was on the same set-up as I’d run on the Insignia.

“We tried something a bit different in free practice two which I wish I hadn’t have done because the car didn’t handle well at all. We’re going back towards the Insignia set-up that I’ve been used to this year for qualifying and hopefully that’ll go better.”

And Scott was also full of praise for teammate Goff, who finished second and fifth in the day’s two practice sessions having made the same transition between cars.

“We know Jack’s got talent – that’s never in doubt, he’s very good here anyway.

“He stuck with the set-up that we used on the Insignia and obviously it’s paid off…so I’m really just copying him back for qualifying to make sure we’re about right.”
