Citroën’s Yvan Muller continued to top the times at the Moscow Raceway in the second World Touring Car Championship practice session, ahead of Honda’s Gabriele Tarquini and Campos Racing’s Hugo Valente.
Tarquini went second fastest with a late lap 0.414 seconds slower than Muller – with the Frenchman widening the gap over first practice by almost four tenths.
Valente was third, with Chevrolet cars having been fastest for much of the session. ROAL Motorsport duo Tom Chilton and Tom Coronel were fourth and fifth fastest, ahead of an impressive showing by Münnich Motorsport’s René Münnich in sixth.
Championship leader José María López was the second best Citroën driver in seventh, 0.763 seconds slower than Muller.
Honda’s Tiago Monteiro, Proteam’s Mehdi Bennani and Citroën’s Sébastien Loeb completed the top ten.
Gianni Morbidelli was 11th fastest, despite having been on top of the times early on in the session.
The order in TC2 remained as it was in first practice, with Franz Engstler leading the way in 18th. Campos’ débutee Nikita Misiulia was able to complete some competitive running in second practice, posting a time 4.3 seconds slower than Engstler.
Qualifying takes place at 14:30 MST (11:30 BST, 12:30 CEST).
