Honda unveils new WTCC Civic

Honda has unveiled the first images of its new-for-2014 Honda Civic which will contest next seasons World Touring Car Championship to the series’ new technical regulations.

The computer-generated render shows how the new car for 2014 is expected to look, with subtle wheelarch extensions and a more aggressive rear-wing on the car. The car also features larger wheels and an overall sleeker aerodynamic package.

Two works’ cars run by JAS Motorsport will once again be piloted by experienced touring car racers Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro, whilst a further two cars will be made available to independent outfits Proteam Racing and Zengő Motorsport for Mehdi Bennani and Norbert Michelisz respectively.

The team took four wins in the 2013 season with the outgoing Civic, which only featured in the WTCC for just over one season.

The new Honda is expected to take to the track in January for testing. This is in contrast to WTCC newcomers Citroën, who have been seen extensively testing their new C-Elyseé in recent months.
