Capacity entrance for BTCC in 2014

BTCCSeries organisers TOCA announced today that all 32 entrances have been allocated for the 2014 British Touring Car Championship season, following the closure of the pre-registration process.

The license process was introduced partly in response to a situation that arose this season, where although the capacity of 32 cars were announced before the start of the season, a number of cars raced only sporadically or not at all, with the new system designed to ensure that teams and drivers fulfil their commitment.

However, licenses can be leased out to other teams on a season long license. There are also currently three cars which have been placed on a reserve list that did not meet the organisers’ requirements, but will be granted a place on the grid should another competing team miss an event.

While team and driver announcements are largely expected to be revealed in the upcoming months, an official list of entries will not be published by TOCA until the series’ 2014 media day, on Tuesday 18th March.

Honda have already announced their plans for the 2014 season, while United Autosports also confirmed that they will compete in the series next year with James Cole and Glynn Geddie piloting a pair of ex-Dynojet toyota Avensis’.

Shaun Hollamby also reacted to the news this morning by confirming his AMD Essex squad will have a place on the grid next season.

“Quick update to confirm we have an entry, a car and a driver for 2014 BTCC! All will be revealed soon!” wrote Hollamby on his Twitter account.
