Youngsters get BTCC test opportunity

Young racing drivers Dan Cammish, Harrison Scott and Josh Files are to get their first taste of British Touring Car Championship machinery when they participate in a test for Airwaves Racing at Snetterton on Tuesday.

Cammish and Scott finished first and second respectively in the 2013 Dunlop MSA Formula Ford championship, with Cammish sensationally winning every single race – a run of 24 consecutive victories – on his way to the title.

Scott finished runner-up in the championship, taking a solitary victory at Silverstone after Cammish left the championship. Files has participated in the Renault Clio Cup since 2011 and took the overall title in 2013 with two victories.

All three drivers will be able to complete three runs of the Norfolk circuit, totalling around 18 laps of running. Existing Motorbase driver Tom Onslow-Cole will also be present at the test to provide advice and a base-line time for the youngsters.

“Our commitment to the British Touring Car Championship goes far beyond supporting the teams in drivers already in the premier UK series,” said Dunlop’s Marketing and Communications Director James Bailey.

“Dunlop has a strong heritage in providing development opportunities for young drivers, with initiatives such as Dunlop Race Academy and Dunlop Star of Tomorrow in our recent history. This opportunity rewards talent that has developed in the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship and the Renault Clio UK Cup – where Dunlop is sole tyre supplier.

“2013 Champion Andrew Jordan made his circuit debut in 2005 in the Dunlop Ginetta G20 Series and we hope the 2013 prize test champions can have similar success.”
