Gordon Shedden fastest in second practice

Gordon Shedden posted the fastest time in the second free practice session for the British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill ahead of Adam Morgan and Jason Plato.

After a fairly routine start, the session burst into life in the last ten minutes with first Neal, then Shedden and Morgan all beating Jason Plato’s initial benchmark of 52.995s, which had been quicker than Tom Chilton’s lap record from 2011.

Morgan’s time looked to have secured him top spot before Shedden went quicker once more to grab the fastest time on a 52.582, just over a tenth-of-a-second faster than Morgan.

Plato secured third place with a fast lap as the chequered flag fell, while Andrew Jordan was fourth in the sole Pirtek Racing Honda this weekend, ahead of Neal and Tordoff.

Tom Onslow-Cole had a quiet but effective session in seventh place, with Frank Wrathall eighth and the Rob Austin Racing duo backing up their pace from the morning, with Austin ninth ahead of Bratt.

Much like first practice, the session ran uninterrupted with no real on track incidents. Two cars did not set a time in the session, with Dave Newsham sitting the session out with suspension issues and Aiden Moffat experiencing engine troubles in his second BTCC debut.
