Andrew Jordan tops opening practice at Croft

Andrew Jordan set the fastest time of the session during the opening free practice session ahead of rounds 13, 14 and 15 of the British Touring Car Championship at Croft.

The Pirtek Racing driver set the fastest time of the session just before the session was red flagged due to debris out on circuit from the MG of Sam Tordoff.

The opening 10 minutes of the session saw the fastest time of the session alternate between Mat Jackson in the Airwaves Racing Ford Focus, Will Bratt in the Rob Austin Racing Audi A4 and Frank Wrathall in the Dynojet Toyota Avensis.

After taking a double win at Oulton Park last time out, Jason Plato soon showed the MG KX Momentum Racing Team’s form by breaking into the 1m25’s – and he bettered his fastest time on the next lap.

Matt Neal in the Honda Yuasa Racing Team Civic jumped to second before Jordan went top of the times.

After the session restarted, Gordon Shedden in the second Honda Yuasa Racing Team Honda Civic jumped to fourth with his first flying lap, before being demoted by Colin Turkington and Tom Onslow-Cole.

Turkington’s eBay Motors team-mate, Rob Collard moved into P5 before being shown the black and white flag while Plato was back into P3 and with 10 minutes of the session remaining, moved to within 0.072s of Jordan’s benchmark.

Jordan’s time wasn’t to be bettered in the final minutes of the session and he topped the session ahead of Plato, Turkington, Onslow-Cole and Collard.

The battle in the Jack Sears Trophy saw Jake Hill and Lea Wood exchange times constantly with the Addison Lee Motorbase driver coming out on top of the Wheel Heaven/Houseman Racing driver.

Free Practice two gets underway at 12pm with qualifying ahead of round 13 of the season due to start at 15:10.
