Underweight Tomczyk loses pole

Photo by BMW AGMartin Tomczyk has been stripped of the pole position which he had earlier gained in qualifying for the DTM at Brands Hatch, due to the German’s car being underweight.

BMW’s Tomczyk had earlier scored the first-ever pole in the series for his BMW team RMG outfit and the ninth of his DTM career. However during post-qualifying scrutineering the former champion’s car was found to be underweight and he was thrown out of qualifying.

The decision means that Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller is elevated to pole position, with BMW driver Augusto Farfus joining him on the front row.
