Andrew Jordan: ‘We’ll be strong at Thruxton’

Andrew Jordan is predicting a strong weekend for him and the Pirtek Racing outfit as the 2013 British Touring Car Championship heads to the fastest circuit in the UK, Thruxton.

Looking ahead to the trip to Hampshire, Jordan is looking forward to the challenges the fast, flowing circuit offers. The circuit has an average speed of over 110mph and is well known for punishing the tyres.

Jordan arrives carrying 36 kilos of success ballast on board the #77 Honda Civic but is hopeful of being able to challenge for further victories.

“Thruxton is one of my favourite circuits: it’s probably the best track we go to,” he said.

“I think we’ll be strong at Thruxton: We did some testing there in February and the cars were really, really good,” explains Jordan.

Last time out at Donington Park, the Pirtek Racing driver took his first victory of the 2013 campaign as he closed the gap to Championship leader Jason Plato to 5 points while extending his advantage in the Independent’s category.

“I knew I needed to get a win: There are only so many times you can be second,” he said, having taken his third second place finish during the opening race of the Donington Park weekend. “It was good to show that we can win.”

He also praised the work put in by the team: “I can’t get over how good a job the guys are doing: we all work so well together.”
