Honda on maximum weight for Austria

The Castrol Honda and Zengo Motorsport Honda Civics will be running the maximum 40 kilos compensation weight during rounds 9 and 10 of the 2013 World Touring Car Championship.

After their performance in the last three events – with Gabriele Tarquini finishing on top of the times in Morocco and Slovakia, the Japanese cars have been awarded the maximum 40 kilos.

This is a gain of 10 kilos over their weight for the Hungarian rounds, where the cars had 30 kilos of ballast on board.

Honda joins Chevrolet in running the 40 kilos compensation ballast, with Yvan Muller taking pole position last time out in the RML car.

BMW and SEAT also gain weight after their performances over the last three events. The Spanish manufacturer has seen their cars win two races in the last three events while reigning Champion Rob Huff in the Münnich Motorsport car took the fastest lap in the second Hungarian race and this has resulted in an additional 10 kilos being given, meaning the cars will run with 20 kilos of ballast on board.

BMW will once again race at their minimum weight after the victory for Tom Coronel in Slovakia and Mehdi Bennani’s second place finish in the second race in Hungary.

The LADA Granta will continue to run at the same weight they ran in Hungary, running with a 20 kilo reduction to their weight.
