Fredy Barth looking forward to African trip

Fredy Barth and the Wiechers-Sport head to Marrakesh for rounds 3 and 4 of the World Touring Car Championship with Barth looking to repeat his best result of 4th from 2010.

The street circuit makes its fourth appearance in the WTCC, having made its debut in 2009 and it features two long straights punctuated with tight chicanes and a tight hairpin for the final corner. With the circuit being a street circuit, the drivers need to pay full attention as one mistake can leave them in the wall.

“I’m looking forward to the race in Africa,” explains Barth, who opened his account for the 2013 campaign during the opening race at Monza.

“In 2010, I was able to score my best WTCC result so far. After the experience we could make at Monza I am sure that for the next races we stand better. I assume that we will have no rain in Morocco. Nevertheless, it is difficult for the BMW in Marrakesh. The BMW circuits are yet to come!”

Wiechers-Sport Team Manager Dominik Greiner is looking forward to the trip to North Africa after the wet weather of the season opener at Monza.

“Marrakech is always worth a visit,” adds Greiner. “In recent years, together with our drivers, we were able to always get top results. I am confident that we can continue this with Fredy. After the wet race at Monza I am pleased to now see sunshine and temperatures in Africa! “
