Green placed at Abt Sportsline for ’13

Photo by Audi AGBrit Jamie Green will race an Abt Sportsline-run Audi RS 5 DTM in this season’s forthcoming Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season, Audi announced today at the International Motor Show in Geneva.

Green, who signed for Audi in December 2012, will partner Mattias Ekström in the lead Audi squad, meaning that former Abt Sportsline driver Timo Scheider will move to the Audi Sport Team Abt camp, in the seat vacated by Rahel Frey. Other than this the marque’s driver line-up remains the same as in 2012, with Filipe Albuquerque and Edoardo Mortara at Team Rosberg and Mike Rockenfeller and Miguel Molina at Team Phoenix.

“I already feel at home here at Audi and can hardly wait to contest my first DTM race for the four rings,” said Green, who has taken eight victories in the DTM to-date with his previous employer Mercedes-Benz.

Audi also took the opportunity to rename its A5 DTM, which for 2013 will be known as the RS 5 DTM, in deference to the sportier road-going version of the car.

Audi’s RS 5 will be presented in public on the race track for the first time during testing at Barcelona between the 26th and 29th March, and at the Hockenheimring between the 9th and 12th April.
