Rob Huff took another step towards his maiden World Touring Car Championship title after taking a dominant pole position around the streets of Macau and in the process extending his Championship lead.

Huff set a new WTCC qualifying record as he secured his fourth pole position at Macau in the last four seasons, and the only driver to duck below the 2m30 barrier. Huff secured pole with a 2:29.422s.
Chevrolet locked out the top three positions with Yvan Muller and Alain Menu completing the top three while Gabriele Tarquini took fourth in his last appearance for SEAT ahead of his 2013 team-mate, Tiago Monteiro. For Monteiro, it marks his best qualifying result for Honda since they joined the Championship at Suzuka.
Top Yokohama Independent driver is Darryl O’Young in the rebuilt bamboo engineering Chevrolet Cruze ahead of the current points leader, Norbert Michelisz in the Zengo Motorsport BMW 320TC.
The top ten was completed by Mehdi Bennani in the Proteam Motorsport BMW 320TC, Pepe Oriola in the SEAST Tuenti Racing Team SEAT Leon and Alex MacDowall in the sister bamboo engineering Chevrolet Cruze to O’Young.
The biggest name to miss out on the second part of qualifying was ROAL Motorsport’s Tom Coronel, who got knocked out in the closing minutes before Fredy Barth brought out the red flags after crashing at Police bend.
Coronel had one final chance to break into the top twelve once the session was restarted with four minutes remaining but he lost out after breaking a driveshaft.
After qualifying, a number of the local drivers were hit with penalties after they failed to stop at the weighing bay.
Celio Alves Dias had his best time disallowed while Mak ka Lok, Filipe da Souza, and Ng Kin Veng had all of their times disallowed. All of the drivers will take to the grid for the final races, starting at the rear of the field.
Heading into rounds 23 and 24 on Sunday, the British driver is 37 points ahead of Menu and 42 ahead of Muller, with a maximum of 50 points up for grabs.
