James Nash ‘hopeful’ of better Chinese weekend

James Nash heads to the Shanghai International Circuit for the penultimate round of the 2012 World Touring Car Championship looking to bounce back from a tough weekend at Suzuka.

The Milton Keynes based racer is looking forward to the trip to China as one of his main sponsors, vGroup International has a Chinese associated company. This weekend isn’t his first visit to China this season.

“Travel is one of my ‘things’. I really enjoy travelling to different places and experiencing a different culture. China is one of my favourites too. One of my main sponsor’s vGroup International has a Chinese-based associated company and I was out in China earlier this year in connection with that so going back out there so soon afterwards is great,” explains Nash.

The second of three Asian events to close out the 2012 campaign sees Nash racing in China for the first time and he is excited about racing at the home of the Chinese Grand Prix.

“I haven’t though raced in China before so that is going to be a new experience for me and I’m particularly excited that we’re going to be racing on the now-famous Shanghai F1 circuit,” continues the #14 Team Aon Ford Focus driver.

Nash is looking for a change in form as the last few races haven’t gone to plan. The last time Nash scored a Championship point was May when the series visited Austria for the first time.

Looking ahead to the WTCC race of China, he is hopeful that the anticipated weather conditions for the weekend will help the team move back up the field.

“I’m hopeful that we can have a better weekend with the Team Aon Ford Focus this time out mindful that the last few race weekends haven’t gone exactly to plan.

“I think the cooler conditions we anticipate in China will help us, though I’m aware I said the same before Japan and myself and teammate Tom Chilton must have been the only ones disappointed at Suzuka that the air temperature was 20 plus degrees!” concluded Nash.
