Andrew Jordan fastest in second practice

Andrew Jordan set the fastest time in the second British Touring Car Championship practice session around the Brands Hatch GP circuit, lapping in 1:31.765 on a dry circuit.

Jordan was more than half a second clear of the next fastest driver, eBay Motors Tom Onslow-Cole, who has 0.652 seconds back. Rob Collard was third fastest, as the WSR-run BMWs enjoyed a more competitive second session.

Of the championship protagonists it was Jason Plato who was quickest in fourth, just over a second off Jordan’s pace. Jordan’s Pirtek team-mate was fifth fastest, with the third eBay Motors BMW of Nick Foster in sixth.

The morning’s pace-setter in damp conditions, Matt Neal, was seventh fastest, immediately ahead of championship leader Gordon Shedden in eighth.

Redstone Racing team-mates Mat Jackson and Árón Smith completed the top ten and were the last drivers within two seconds of the top time.

Making his debut in the BTCC this weekend in the Team HARD Honda Civic is Aaron Williamson, who ended the session in 18th. The 20 year-old is the fourth different driver to be behind the wheel of the former Team Dynamics car this season.

Qualifying takes place at 14:55 BST.
