Skydiving to Sonoma for James Nash

James Nash is ready for the ninth event of the 2012 World Touring Car Championship at Sonoma Raceway, having successfully completed a charity skydive over Peterborough.

For Nash and the Team Aon squad, it marks their first visit to North America as the series heads into its debut weekend in the USA.

Nash, along with SEAT drivers Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro were guests of the WTCC Race of USA promoter recently and got to see the circuit first hand while experiencing a NASCAR event.

“I was really impressed when I went over to take a look at Sonoma Raceway a few weeks back,” explains the Milton Keynes-based driver.

“The track is awesome and I really can’t wait to get out there myself in the Team Aon Ford Focus and try it for myself. It is easy to see why so many have rated it as the best driver’s road course in America.”

With Sonoma being new to the whole field, Nash hopes to find some of the early season form around the 4025km Sonoma circuit and show that the upgrades made to the Arena Motorsport run Team Aon cars help show their true potential.

“I’ve never felt fitter and we’ve been trying one or two new bits for the Ford Focus in testing,” explained Nash.

“I’m determined to show that we’re quicker than we’ve been able to demonstrate in the recent races, especially so given that all of the teams will be new to the circuit and not just us which should make for a more leveller-than-usual playing field. If we can harness some of our early season form when we ran in the top ten then I’ll be happy,” concluded the 2011 British Touring Car Championship Independents’ Champion.
