Slovakian adventure for Darryl O’Young

Darryl O’Young heads to Slovakia and the Slovakia Ring looking to move into the top five of the Yokohama Independent drivers’ Championship standings. The weekend marks the debut weekend for the World Touring Car Championship in Slovakia.

While the World Touring Car Championship has had a two week break since the trip to Marrakech, O’Young has been out at Zolder at the wheel of a Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 in the FIA GT1 World Championship.

Arriving in Slovakia, O’Young has seen the weight of his Special Tuning Racing SEAT Leon reduced by the FIA, and he is hoping to move up the order over the weekend around the six kilometre circuit.

As all of the drivers are new to the circuit, O’Young is hopeful of some strong results: “After Marrakech, I feel very prepared for the race of Slovakia. We have steadily improved as a team since our first race in Monza. The engine is stronger and more reliable, and I’ve learnt to work with my team.”

The circuit is 40kms east of the capital, Bratislava and features two long straights and a twisty infield section. The WTCC is set for two ten lap races of the circuit, and both races will be shown live on Eurosport.
