Superstars Confirm 34 Cars for 2012

The 2012 Superstars International Series is set to be another exciting season after FGGroup announced the entry list for the forthcoming season, which gets underway at Monza over the 31 March/1 April.

Thirty four full season entries from seventeen different teams have been announced, representing nine different car marquees, with a mixture of newcomers and series regulars looking for the Championship glory.

Swiss Team returns with their Maserati Quattroportes, looking to find the same form which brought Andrea Bertolini a dominant performance in 2011. The team return with three cars for 2012.

CAAL Racing has confirmed their participation in the Championship, once again using their Mercedes C63 AMG machines, while Roma Racing team will also return with their Mercedes C63 AMG cars. Roma Racing Team will be looking to build on their stellar debut season while CAAL Racing will look to add to their five teams’ titles.

2010 Superstars Champion Thomas Biagi is back for another stab at the series, driving a BMW M3 E92 for BMW team Dinamic, with technical support and help from WTCC outfit ROAL Motorsport.

Former World Touring Car Championship driver Gianni Morbidelli will be back, racing one of three new Audi RS5 cars, and he will be aiming for his third Superstars crown behind the wheel of an Audi.

It isn’t just Audi, Mercedes and BMW from Germany – as Porsche return with Rangoni Motorsport, with the team running a brace of Porsche Panamera S’s for Alessandro Garofano and former WTCC podium finisher Luca Rangoni.

Solaris Motorsport, a Swiss based team, will make their Superstars debut in 2012, using a brace of Chevrolet Lumina CR8’s for Superstars regular Francesco Sini and a yet to be announced rookie team-mate.

Leading single-seater outfit Durango Motorsport, under the leadership of Ivano Pinton will use the former works Audi RS4’s while San Marino based W&D Racing team will campaign two BMW M3 E90’s, with one being raced by 2011 Italian Endurance Touringcar Series Champion Paolo Meloni.

Team Porteiro Motorsport will also run a brace of BMW M3 E92’s for two young Spanish drivers while Scuderia Giudici will run a single car for Gianni Giudici behind the wheel, while Todi Corse will also use BMW machinery, with Francesco Ascani and Leonardo Baccarelli driving the teams’ two cars.

Britain is also represented with a brace of Jaguar XFR’s is being raced by Team Jaguar Ferlito, while Lexus is represented by MRT by Nocentini. The team will be looking to wash away the memories of the Japanese manufacturer’s tough debut season.

America is also on the grid in the shape of the Cadillac CTS-V, being campaigned by RC Motorsport.
