Triple Eight pleased with good qualifying

Triple Eight drivers James Nash and Ollie Jackson are pleased with their qualifying performance at Brands Hatch today after they qualified third and fifteenth respectively.

On a scorching hot October day, with temperatures as high as 29 degrees recorded, Nash managed to put in a late fast lap in qualifying to snatch third for the first of tomorrow’s races. Crucially Nash’s performance puts him ahead of his main independents title rival Mat Jackson, who qualified seventh.

“Really pleased with that,” said Nash afterwards. “The only slight disappointment is that Andrew [Jordan] is ahead of me. I always want to be the first Vauxhall.

“It was good to be able to pull the rabbit out of the hat so to speak with that last flying lap. I think I was down in 11th just prior to that. I’m looking forward to the race. We’ll be aiming to move forward and win. We’ve always aimed to win and there’s no need to change a good game plan now.”

Making his debut this weekend in the British Touring Car Championship, Ollie Jackson finished a respectable 15th out of 29 drivers in his first qualifying session. Indeed the former Porsche racer had set himself exactly that target prior to the session.

“l’ve got to be pleased in having achieved it,” said Jackson. “I’d managed tenth in FP2 and hoped to stay there but unfortunately the two stoppages we had in the session rather upset my rhythm. Overall though, a good day.”
