Ollie Jackson to début with Triple Eight

Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am1 Champion Ollie Jackson is to race for Triple Eight for the final two rounds of the season. Jackson will make his debut at the wheel of the team’s second Vauxhall Vectra at Brands Hatch and Silverstone and becomes Triple Eight’s ninth different driver in two seasons.

Jackson, 27, has been racing in the British GT Championship so far in 2011 and is currently 5th in the GT4 class of the championship. He recently won his class in the championship’s overseas race at Spa Francorchamps with former Triple Eight driver Phil Glew sharing the driving.

Having raced extensively in various forms of GT racing in recent years, this weekend’s action at Brands Hatch will mark the first time he has raced a front-wheel drive car.

“I’m thrilled to have signed for Triple Eight and can’t wait to make my touring car debut,” said Jackson. “So far I’ve only had an afternoon in the car and Brands will be the first time I will have raced a front wheel drive car so clearly they’ll be lots to learn once Saturday morning practice starts. That said, I’m really looking forward to the experience, I know the track and I’m confident that I can put up a good showing.”

Triple Eight Chairman Ian Harrison is pleased to have secured a deal to run the team’s second car in what is to be the final two race meetings that Triple Eight will run the cars.

“We’re pleased to have signed Ollie for Brands and Silverstone,” added Harrison. “I’m sure he’ll soon find his feet. It’ll be good too to have a second car out there again to hopefully to secure some more points for us in both Championships.”
