James Nash set to complete season with Triple Eight

James Nash will retain his seat at Triple Eight Race Engineering for the rest of the season, it has been announced. The 24-year old has been racing in a near sponsorless car for the majority of the 2010 season. Since starting his season at Rockingham with backing from a movie distribution company displaying logos for the film Avatar, Nash has struggled for backing.

Nash was joined in the Triple Eight team by Daniel Lloyd for the previous meeting at Croft, although it is unclear whether Lloyd will also be able to continue with the team.

At the recent Snetterton test session last week Nash was the only driver testing for Triple Eight, setting a best time of 1:12.120 to make him the fifth fastest driver out of the 16 competitors. Nash’s car ran unbranded at the test session as it has done for most races this season.

Speaking to Autosport.com, Triple Eight team principal Ian Harrison said: “We’re very pleased to have him on board for the rest of the season.

“I think he’s got the wherewithal to take the next step and win a race before the end of the year.”

The next round of the BTCC takes place at Snetterton in Norfolk on the 7th / 8th of August and Nash will be hoping to go one better than last year, where he won on track but was later disqualified for contact with Rob Collard that led to the victory.
