Pirtek Racing remain focused on their goal

As patriotic pride reaches fever pitch in the World Cup, the Pirtek Racing team will be looking to score goals of their own this weekend when the fifth round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) kicks off at the Croft circuit in North Yorkshire. As the 2010 BTCC season nears its half way point the Pirtek Racing team and driver Andrew Jordan remain focused on achieving podium finishes in Britain’s premier racing series.

The team’s last outing two weeks ago at the Oulton Park Circuit was a tough experience after struggling with technical issues throughout the weekend. However the Tamworth team remains upbeat and ready for the challenge at Croft.

Jordan commented ahead of the weekend, “We know right now we have a good car under us, probably the best we’ve had all season and still improving. When we were on track at Oulton we had a great competitive pace and without problems we could’ve been running at the front. Sometimes you have tough weekends in racing but that then makes the success even sweeter when you achieve it. The team has been working hard and we have ensured that we’ve focused any frustrations we had on making sure we can achieve a strong result next time out.

“Last year at Croft I was the quickest of the Vauxhall’s in qualifying and I had a fastest lap in one of the races, so I know we can run well. There are some quick corners out the back of the track which are mixed with a slow speed complex at the end which requires you to be disciplined and smooth with your driving. I think the power of the TOCA engine will come into play in the hairpin at the last corner where the torque of the turbo engine will benefit us and give us a good sling-shot to the line.

“It’d be great to head into the six week summer break with a good haul of points and a renewed vigour for the second half of the year.”

The action in the BTCC takes place from Saturday morning with the first of two practice sessions, followed by the afternoon’s qualifying session at 3:05pm. Sunday will see the first of three races taking place at midday; catch all the action live on ITV4.
