TouringCars.net is saddened to hear of the loss of Boulevard Team Racing principal Cliff Johnson, who passed away suddenly at the weekend.
Cliff, who was the father of current BTCC racer Martin Johnson, guided his team to the top flight of UK touring car racing following on from successful stints in the supporting Renault Clio Cup including winning the team’s title in 2004.
Martin had reecently achieved his strongest-ever result in the BTCC, taking an eighth place finish at Rockingham in the team’s second season in the BTCC. It was an impressive performance by such a small team running one of the oldest cars in the field.
Johnson’s passing will be felt by the whole team as it is such a small and friendly outfit. Martin confirmed that he would still take part in this weekend’s races, telling btcc.net: “It’s what my dad would have wanted.”
