Norisring race winners
The Norisring in Nuremberg is the most famous street circuit in Germany. Motor races have been held at the circuit since 1947, when a motorcycle race was held, with the city having been famous for its motorcycle manufacturers.
The circuit was created around the infamous Steintribune (or Zeppelinfeld), which was a part of the Nazi Part rally grounds.
The first car race was held in 1948, on a circuit which was around 1.6 km longer than present, as the first hairpin was located around 375 m further on than present.
In 1971, Mexican racer Pedro Rodríguez was killed in an accident before the Schöller-S, and for the following year the circuit was shortened to reduce approach speeds, giving the circuit its present-day layout.
The showpiece event for the circuit has long been the DTM, although in 2022 TCR Europe made a visit, bringing international touring cars to the circuit for the first time.
