Mid-Ohio race winners

Relatively unchanged since it opened in 1962, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is one of the most important road circuits in the United States.

The circuit was opened as a weekend racing venue by a group of local businessmen, and after just one year of operation the section at Thunder Valley was straightened due to complaints of being too slow.

In the first decade of operation, the circuit hosted series such as Can-Am and F5000. Then, in 1980, the circuit staged its first CART / Indycar race, with the decade also seeing further renovations and the option of straight-lining the chicane on the approach to The Keyhole in 1990.

SportsCar racing’s showpiece event, the SportsCar Challenge at Mid-Ohio, has been held semi-regularly since 1963, with exceptions in 1969-1971, 1980, 1994-2000 and 2013-2017. NASCAR has also visited since 2013.

The circuit has grandstand seating for 12,000 spectators and is classified as FIA Grade II.
