Victor Weyrich set the pace in the opening TCR World Tour practice session

Herrero Racing driver Victor Weyrich set the pace in the opening practice session for the FIA TCR World Tour at Circuit Paul Ricard, despite it being his debut in the series.

Weyrich, 27, has been contesting the TCR Europe series so far in 2026. But the Frenchman has elected to skip this weekend’s races at the Hungaroring to focus on a guest entry in the TCR World Tour, having gained the benefit of prior experience at the French circuit, where he finished an impressive fourth last month.

Weyrich lapped the national configuration of the high-speed circuit in 1 minute 31.941 seconds, edging out SP Compétition CUPRA racer Aurélien Comte by 0.148 seconds.

Geely Cyan Racing’s Yann Ehrlacher made it a French 1-2-3 at the top of the times (a result not all that unsurprising with half of the grid being French this weekend) by posting the third best time, three tenths of a second adrift.

Ma Qing Hua put his Geely Preface in fourth, whilst BRC Racing’s Mikel Azcona was the top Hyundai driver in fifth.

Sixth-placed Teddy Clairet, this weekend switching to a self-run CUPRA, was the only other driver within half a second of the pace, 0.483 seconds adrift.

Santiago Urrutia put his Geely in seventh, whilst the top ten was completed by ALM Motorsport’s Jenson Brickley, Hyundai’s Norbert Michelisz and Trico WRT’s Damiano Reduzzi.

Thed Björk was the only Geely driver to miss out on the top ten, posting the 11^th best time, over a second off the pace.

Second practice gets underway at 12:00 CEST (11:00 BST).
