Gordon Shedden excluded from race two

Gordon Shedden has been excluded from the race two results for failing the post-race ride-height check, losing the third-placed finish that he gained as a result.

The decision promotes Jeff Smith into third, effectively his second-ever podium in the BTCC. It also affects the reverse grid for the third and final race of the day, which will see Mat Jackson start from pole position, with Adam Morgan alongside him.

Shedden’s exclusion is a disaster for the reigning champion, who also failed to score any points in the opening race of the day due to having to pit because of overheating problems on his Honda.

The Scot is no stranger to having a bad opening weekend of the season – in 2012 after finishing fifth in race one, Shedden subsequently retired from race two and was excluded from race three.

Shedden will start from 25th and last on the grid for Round 3.
