2017 TCR Italy champion Nicola Baldan will make a return to the TCR Europe grid at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend, where he will race a new CUPRA Leon competición run by Élite Motorsport.
Baldan has not competed in a TCR race since the penultimate event of the 2018 TCR Italy season at Vallelunga.
That year, the Italian won one race and was unable to defend the TCR Italy title that he had claimed a year previously, when he won seven races in a SEAT León TCR.
The 38-year-old has twice previously competed in TCR Europe when he took part in the events at Circuit Paul Ricard and Monza in 2018.
It will mark the first appearance of the new CUPRA model in the TCR Europe series.
Baldan’s previous best result in the series is tenth, which he scored in race one in 2018 at the wheel of a Hyundai i30 N TCR.
