Jean-Karl Vernay and Tom Coronel excluded after races two and three

Tom Coronel has been excluded from the result of the second FIA World Touring Car Cup race in Vila Real, and Jean-Karl Vernay from race three, for disrespecting the maximum BoP boost pressures.

Coronel had finished 19^th on the road and outside the points in race two, but loses that result due to exceeding the low overboost point by 0.17%.

Vernay had earlier in the weekend been excluded from the race one result – where he had originally finished in tenth – for the same reason. In race three he exceeded the low overboost point by 0.13 %.

Vernay thus loses his fifth place finish and 11 points, although WRT are set to appeal the decision to the FIA International Court of Appeal along with the race one exclusion.

Vernay’s loss of fifth in race three has a minor impact on the drivers’ standings at the top of the table, with Norbert Michelisz gaining one point by being promoted to ninth.

Elsewhere, Münnich Motorsport’s Esteban Guerrieri was given a three-place grid penalty for the next event in China for having been deemed to be at fault for the accident which eliminated him and the Hyundai of Nicky Catsburg in race three.
