Norbert Michelisz emerged as the man to beat in the second and final practice session for the FIA TCR World Tour at Misano, leading a Hyundai 1-2 for BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse.
The 2023 and 2024 champion clocked a 1:40.421 in his Hyundai Elantra N EV, a time that stood firm through a demanding session shaped by track‑limits policing.
Michelisz was a constant presence at the top of the timing screens. His fastest lap came in the middle phase on fresh tyres and, crucially, survived scrutiny at Turns 6, 8 and the final corner, three areas that caught out many drivers.
Team‑mate Mikel Azcona underlined Hyundai’s strength by jumping up to second place moments before the chequered flag. The Spaniard’s time of 1:40.517 left him just 0.096 seconds adrift, completing a clean sweep of the top two positions for the South Korean marque and giving the squad a strong platform heading into Saturday morning.
Ruben Volt once again interrupted the works-backed teams, placing his ALM Motorsport Honda Civic Type R FL5 third overall. The Estonian briefly displaced Michelisz at the top earlier in the session and eventually finished just 0.112 seconds off the fastest time.
Fourth went to Esteban Guerrieri for GOAT Racing. The Argentine’s Honda lacked the last few tenths of the front‑running Hyundais but remained firmly in contention, less than four‑tenths away from the benchmark.
Aurélien Comte completed the top five and led the CUPRA charge. His SP Compétition‑run León VZ posted a 1:40.844.
Gabriele Covini impressed in sixth as the third, guest-entry, BRC Hyundai entry, just under half a second off Michelisz.
Santiago Urrutia delivered an encouraging performance for Geely Cyan Racing in seventh place. The Uruguayan was the fastest driver of the new Geely Preface package.
Teddy Clairet took eighth for ALM Motorsport, followed by Julien Briché in ninth with another Hyundai Elantra N, whilst Yann Ehrlacher rounded out the top ten in the second Geely Preface.
Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday morning at 08:30 CEST (07:30 BST).
