Jacopo Cimenes will continue to race in TCR Europe at the Red Bull Ring as part of an expanded MM Motorsport driver line-up.
The Italian team started the season running two cars, for Marco Butti and Giacomo Ghermandi, but reduced to a single car for the second and third events of the year with Butti.
Cimenes joined the team last time out at Misano as the team expanded back to two cars, and for the next event at the Red Bull Ring the outfit will run three cars as Ghermandi also returns.
Cimenes, 20, made his TCR début last year in TCR Italy, finishing 11th overall in the championship with a best finish of a brace of fourths at Imola.
He has continued in TCR Italy in 2025, where he is currently sixth overall in the drivers’ standings, but the young Italian particularly impressed on his TCR Europe début at Misano last time out, where he finished on the podium in his first-ever race.
“It’s a new challenge for me, and I can’t wait to tackle it,” said Cimenes. “In the past, I’ve only raced there with a Clio, so I’ll need a few laps to get the right references.
“In some ways, it’s a bit like everything is new, but I’m lucky to have a team like MM Motorsport and a fast team-mate like Marco Butti behind me helping me accelerate my learning process as much as possible.
“It would be nice to replicate what we did at Misano. It won’t be easy, but we’ll try. I’m going to Austria to do well, with no particular goals other than to grow and learn.”
Co-Team Principal Emanuele Alborghetti is pleased to be able to show an increased commitment in the TCR Europe series, which will boast a capacity grid for the final two events.
“We’re thrilled to redouble MM Motorsport’s commitment to TCR Europe and give Jacopo a new opportunity,” said Alborghetti.
“He amazed everyone at Misano with a commanding performance, worthy of a series veteran despite his youth and, essentially, a rookie in the European championship.
“We’re heading to Austria with a pair of young, fast drivers who already boast excellent results in the TCR world.”
