Charles Rainford tops second practice at Knockhill

West Surrey Racing’s Charles Rainford topped the final practice session in Scotland with a time of 50.787 seconds, about three tenths off the qualifying lap record. Rainford went to the top of the timesheets with just under 15 minutes to go, improving his time two minutes later.

Aron Taylor Smith impressed again for Toyota after a good showing in FP1, as he finished just 0.020 behind Rainford. Dan Lloyd was the leading independent as he looks to close the gap at the top of the independents championship this weekend, finishing the session in third in his Restart Racing Hyundai.

EXCELR8 Motorsport’s Tom Ingram, who topped the earlier session, was fourth, with teammate Senna Proctor rounding out the top five.

Chris Smiley made it two Restart Racing Hyundai’s in the top six.

WSR’ s Daryl Deleon who spent the majority of the session in the top ten was seventh. Then it was NAPA’s Daniel Rowbottom and Dan Cammish in eighth and ninth, with Aiden Moffat the lead Scotsman completing the top ten with a time of 51.155 seconds.

The session was interrupted twice by red flags as the barriers at the chicane had to be returned to their original place as drivers played with track limits. Three drivers, including Unlimited’s Dexter Patterson were given the black flag for track limits late on in the session.

Gordon Shedden only completed two laps due to a exhaust clamp problem. Toyota will look to get the car fixed for qualifying after teammates impressed, with James Dorlin putting his Toyota in 11th place. Championship hopeful Ash Sutton finished the session in 19th.

Qualifying is due to get underway at 15:00
