Dušan Borković will complete the remainder of the FIA TCR World Tour season, after a deal was agreed with GOAT Racing following his then-one-off entry in the previous round in Morocco.
Borković, 39, started the year by planning to compete full-time only in TCR Europe, where he already secured a brace of top ten finishes with the team at Vallelunga.
He entered the recent Marrakech round of the FIA TCR World Tour – his first foray into FIA world-level touring car racing since 2015 – and immediately impressed, scoring a podium finish in the reverse-grid second race.
The Serbian driver has now revealed he will remain in the series for the rest of the year, starting with the races at Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course on 7-8 June.
Borković will partner team-mates Esteban Guerrieri and Marco Butti in the squad, in a third Honda Civic.
“I feel immense honour in transitioning to the FIA TCR World Tour full time with the amazing GOAT Racing Team, following the start of the season in TCR Europe,” said Borković.
“I am looking forward to working closely with teammates Esteban and Marco, in our Honda Civic Type R FL5 made by JAS Motorsport.
“I will give my all to repay their trust in me and represent Serbia and my partners in the best light, as I have always done!
“This is the pinnacle of motorsport in touring racing, being among 15-20 drivers in the world to have this chance gives me a huge motivation.
“I look forward to the challenges that the next race in United States brings!”
Team Manager Pepe Oriola is expecting the team to work well with Borković this year.
“We took the decision to enter Dušan straight away in the World Tour,” explained Oriola. “We did it not only because of the podium in Marrakech, but also because he showed speed, experience and team spirit, getting along with his teammates, the engineers and the rest of the team.
“I believe that we will enjoy a successful long-term cooperation because we share the same values and goals.”
