Josh Cook put his One Motorsport Honda at the top of the timesheet only managing the feat by 0.004 seconds.
Cook put together his fastest lap towards the end of the session. This was after teammate Aiden Moffat interrupted the session bringing out the red flag after an off at Hawthorns. The leading time was a 1:30.784.
Ricky Collard has again shown the pace of the Toyota Gazoo Racing UK package placing the #37 second. Collard was leading the session for the final moments before Cook put together his time.
In third place was another driver who showed pace at the Indy circuit earlier in the year. Bobby Thompson placed his Cupra in third place after keeping it within 0.100 seconds of Cook out front.
Mikey Doble continued to show his one-lap pace after his Silverstone pole position. Done by placing his Power Maxed Racing Astra in fourth place. In the end Doble was only 0.040 seconds behind Thompson and 0.135 behind Cook.
Rounding out the top five was another of the Vauxhall Astras. Árón Taylor-Smith was the driver to do so. The times set in this session continued to be tight as Taylor-Smith missed out on fourth by 0.012 seconds.
Colin Turkington was the fastest of the BMW’s settling into sixth place. The BMW’s again were the top of the mileage chart. Turkington had the joint most laps inside the top 10 with 15 with teammate Adam Morgan. Overall the honour went to teammate Stephen Jelley.
In seventh is where we find the first of the championship protagonists. Tom Ingram was again the lead of the pair setting a lap time of a 1:30.988. Ash Sutton was nowhere to be seen in the top 10 ending the session in 18th.
Ingram’s teammate Tom Ingram slotted in behind in eighth with only 0.037 seconds splitting the pair. Chilton ended the session as the fastest man in the 1:31’s. The field once more a way off of the lap record set last year.
Ninth place is where we find Morgan after splitting the most laps in the top 10. Morgan did not come back on track after his red flag stoppage in free practice one. Making the miles all the more important to get back up to speed with the rest of the field.
Rounding out the top ten was the only NAPA Racing UK Ford driven by Dan Cammish. Despite being 10th Cammish was only 0.285 seconds off the the top spot of Cook. In fact no one was outside a tenth of the driver in front until Sutton down in 18th.
