Young Swede Viktor Andersson will make his début in the TCR Europe series this year, when he races a Lynk & Co 03 TCR prepared by his father Mattias’ MA:GP team.
19-year-old Andersson has previously competed in single seaters, making his car racing début in 2018 when he raced in the Formula STCC Nordic.
He continued in the series in 2019, lifting the Formula Nordic title. After a sparse 2020 racing season, in 2021 he moved to the United States Formula 4 Championship, ending the year 20th overall.
Andersson continued racing in the USA last year, finishing 19th overall in the US F2000 National Championship.
He will race the Lynk & Co 03 previously campaigned by his father in the STCC for the past two years.
It will mark the first time that a Lynk & Co car has competed in TCR Europe.
“This is going to be a thoroughly interesting switch for me, going from single seaters to touring cars,” said Andersson. “But I’m all up for it and I’m really impressed by the Lynk & Co after the tests we’ve done so far, I can’t wait to go racing in it.
“While pre-season testing has been encouraging, I’ve got modest expectations as I will meet a very tough field – especially with TCR World Tour joining us for the first part of the season.
“I will take it step by step and primarily aim for the top of the Rookie Trophy.”
