Ashley Seward Motorsport to introduce Lynk & Co 03 to TCR Australia

Ashley Seward Motorsport (ASM) will introduce the Lynk & Co 03 to TCR Australia this year, with the car expected to début at Phillip Island in May with Tom Oliphant at the wheel.

ASM has run an Alfa Romeo Giulietta in the series since its inception in 2019, initially with Dylan O’Keeffe before running Lee Holdsworth and Jay Hanson in 2021 and Michael Caruso in 2022.

This year, former British Touring Car racer Oliphant joined the team, racing the Alfa in the season opener at Symmons Plains to a best finish of fourth.

The team has acquired a Lynk & Co 03 car, built by Geely Group Motorsport, from Cyan Racing, which has campaigned it in the FIA World Touring Car Cup. The car is currently on its way to Australia and is expected to arrive before the second event of the season in May.

The  Lynk & Co brand, established in 2016, is not currently active in Australia but the brand plans to enter the Australian car industry in the coming years.

“We are proud to announce a significant new partnership with Geely Group Motorsport which will see Lynk & Co 03 TCR model represented in TCR Australia with our team,” said Team Principal Ashley Seward.

“We have been working with Geely Group Motorsport for some time on this project and they have been great to deal with throughout.

“We believe Lynk & Co offers the best TCR customer program in the world and have no doubt we can add to the success the brand has had in the highest levels of TCR globally.

“We feel that Lynk & Co, with our new driver Tom Oliphant and our valued sponsor Autoglym, will be a formidable combination and we can’t wait to get the car to Australia and out on track.”

Geely Group Motorsport Customer Sport Director Ron Hartvelt is looking forward to adding Australis to the manufacturer’s customer racing programme, which has also seen Lynk & Co cars being run in TCR Scandinavia, TCR Asia (where Teamwork Motorsport won the 2021 and 2022 drivers’ titles), TCR China (where Teamwork lifted the 2020 drivers’ title) and TCR South America (where Fabricio Pezzini was 2022 champion).

“We are delighted to welcome Ashley Seward Motorsport to our growing Customer Sport family and to see the Lynk & Co 03 TCR race on yet another continent, especially one with such strong motorsport heritage as Oceania,” added Hartvelt.

“TCR Australia is one of the toughest and most professional TCR championships out there and we look forward to supporting Ashley Seward Motorsport in their programme, wishing them the best of luck this season.”
