Daniel Lloyd confident of being ‘in the mix’ for podium places at Snetterton

Excelr8 Motorsport’s Daniel Lloyd is ‘confident of being in the mix for podium places’ as the British Touring Car Championship heads to Snetterton this weekend.

Lloyd had one of his worst weekends in the BTCC last time out at Knockhill, when the Hyundai driver scored no points in three trying races in Scotland.

Prior to that, Lloyd also took part in the BTCC’s annual mid-season tyre test at Snetterton, lapping the Norfolk circuit with the 14th best overall time, although Lloyd completed the second least number of laps of any driver after only taking part in the Wednesday afternoon of the two-day test.

Despite that, Lloyd is confident of challenging near the front this weekend, at a circuit where his best result to-date was seventh in the opening race last season.

“I’m really looking forward to getting out on track this weekend at Snetterton,” said the 30-year-old. “I’m feeling in a really good place mentally and am determined to go out and make up for the disappointment we all felt after Knockhill.

“The plan now is to put that weekend behind us, press the reset button, and come out fighting. Even though I didn’t do as much running as some during the test, it was very productive and there were a few things we discovered that I feel are going to help us this weekend.

“I certainly think we can look to hit the ground running, and I’m confident we can be in the mix for the podium places and score some good points to try and close the gap to the drivers ahead.”
