Ricky Collard moves to the top in dry second practice

Toyota’s Ricky Collard moved to the top of the timesheets in the second British Touring Car Championship practice session at Knockhill, lapping in 51.283 seconds to edge out MB Motorsport’s Jake Hill by just 0.01 seconds.

Collard had earlier been 13^th fastest in the rain-affected first session of the day, but in second practice he hit the top of the times just before the half-hour mark, initially with an effort of 51.310 seconds.

Hill, who had been the pace-setter beforehand, then improved to a 51.293, before Collard went quicker on his next tour to end up with a 51.283.

Although lap times have improved as conditions got better just north of Edinburgh, the field is still some way off the lap record of 50.451 seconds set by Rory Butcher in 2019.

Thus, Hill ended up a mere 0.01 seconds behind as the top BMW driver, ahead of Ciceley Motorsport’s Adam Morgan in third.
