PSS Racing’s Franco Girolami moved to the top of the timesheets in second practice for TCR Europe at the Nürburgring, although his lap was around nine tenths of a second slower than Mikel Azcona had been earlier in the day.
Girolami set a fastest lap of 2 minutes 7.467 seconds, which was within six thousandths of his best time from the morning session, but ultimately still around nine tenths of a second slower than the CUPRA driver’s earlier best.
Niels Langeveld made improvements to his Hyundai Elantra from earlier in the day, ending the session in second as the best of the Sébastien Loeb Racing quartet.
Azcona was third fastest, the Volcano Motorsport CUPRA driver being over a second slower than his first practice pace, although two-and-a-half seconds behind Girolami.
Tom Coronel was the best Audi driver in fourth, replicating his form from the morning, ahead of Brutal Fish Racing’s Jack Young in fifth, who got his first mileage in during the afternoon.
Teddy Clairet put his Peugeot in sixth, just over a second off the pace, ahead of the second Brutal Fish Honda of Isidro Callejas in seventh.
The top ten was completed by the Audis of Dušan Borković and Nicolas Baert and the Honda of Martin Ryba.
Qualifying is scheduled to get underway on Saturday at 10:10 CEST (09:10 BST).
