TCR Italy race winner Damiano Reduzzi will join the grid for next weekend’s TCR Europe event at Monza, where he will race his Hyundai i30 N TCR run by the Trico WRT Team.
It will mark Reduzzi’s first touring car outing at the international level, even if he is competing on home soil.
The 43-year-old made his TCR Italy début in 2019, and he has yet to contest a full season in the championship. In 2020 he won two races and finished sixth overall in the drivers’ standings, despite missing two events entirely due to professional commitments.
After a difficult first two events of 2021, in which he failed to break into the top 15, Reduzzi has not competed since in TCR Italy.
He started his career in rallying at the age of 20, and admits that he was drawn to circuit racing after his successes on asphalt rallies.
“I took some good results and stepped up in the categories, but I have always preferred rallies on asphalt, and the logical consequence was a switch to circuit racing,” explained Reduzzi.
“I looked at TCR and thought it was the way to go. We took part in three events of TCR Italy in 2019 and that was the beginning of the Trico WRT TCR programme.”
