Jack Young held off a late charge from Tom Coronel to take his maiden pole position in TCR Europe at Zandvoort.
Young, driving a Brutal Fish Racing Team Honda Civic, ended the second section of qualifying on top of the standings by just 0.081 seconds after setting a last gasp time of 1 minute 43.668.
The Northern Irishman had earlier dominated Q1 on Saturday morning with a time of 1 minute 44.166 and had also been leading the majority of Q2 before Coronel moved to the top of the standings late on in the session.
However Young responded on his final run and managed to snatch pole position back from the Dutchman, with the duo ending the session well ahead of the other runners in Q2.
ComToYou Racing saw three of their drivers in the top four positions, with Dušan Borković claiming third on the grid ahead of the opening race of the weekend.
The Serbian driver ended Q2 just eight thousands of a second ahead of teammate Nicolas Baert, with championship frontrunner Mehdi Bennani completing the top five in Q2.
Defending champion Bennani, who this weekend will be hoping to make the most of rival Mikel Azcona not competing in the Netherlands, was the leading Sébastien Loeb Racing Hyundai driver and the Moroccan will line up alongside the second Brutal Fish Racing Honda of Isidro Callejas on the grid for race one.
Another Honda was seventh quickest, with FP2 pace setter Franco Girolami finishing the session 0.075 seconds ahead of the sole Team Clairet Sport Peugeot of Jimmy Clairet.
Clairet had earlier finished Q1 in 12th, while brother Teddy Clairet missed out on making it through and could only manage the 13th fastest time.
Niels Langeveld and Sami Taoufik completed the top 10 in the Netherlands and will both line-up on the front row of the grid for race two as a result, with Klim Gavrilov and Felice Jelmini the other two runners in Q2.
Lining up 14th on the race one grid will be Viktor Davidovski in another of the PSS Racing Honda’s, while Mat’o Homola could only manage 15th fastest.
Sylvain Pussier, Matin Ryba, Evgenii Leonov, Jachym Galas, Giles Colombani and series debutant Gustav Birch completed the grid for the opening race of the weekend.
Race one of the TCR Europe series at Zandvoort is set to take place later today at 17:20 CEST (16:20 BST).
